Can I come alone? YES! The nature of the retreat invites a sense of sisterhood and solidarity among the women who come. Whether you come alone or with a friend, you will leave with new friends and a renewed connection with your truest self! It has been so inspiring for us to see the friendships that have unfolded from women meeting on the retreat over the years.
How can I choose between retreats? You can always come on both! But if that's not an option, the Surf Safari retreat will give water loving and intermediate level surfing guests more time in the water and the opportunity to explore nearby beaches and breaks. These destinations will be half and full day trips from our home base in Playa Grande. The Giving and Gratitude retreat will also have yoga, beach and surf activities, with the goal of enjoying and improving the beach and village of Playa Grande as we enjoy our time there. This retreat will also have one, full-day adventure excursion that will take us to experience the mountains and Costa Rican jungle. Not sure which one is for you? Feel free to contact us with questions. Do I need a passport? Yes, all nationalities need a passport valid for a minimum of six months from date of arrival in the country. American and Canadian citizens do not need a Visa, however if you are of another nationality, please check with the Costa Rican Embassy for Visa requirements. For American citizens who do not have a passport or need to renew yours, visit the U.S. State Department website for information.
Is there internet available? There is complimentary Wi-fi if you need to "plug in", although we highly recommend "unplugging" for the week!
How will I get around once I'm there? We will take care of the transportation to all activities. The location of the retreat will encourage you to let go of any "to-do" list and just breathe in the surrounding sights and sounds of beach life. There is a mini-mart within a short walk of both retreat locations. However, if you do need to get to the store or pharmacy, we will provide the transportation at no additional cost. We are here to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
What do I pack? As the trip approaches, we will send you a welcome packet that will contain a suggested packing list.
I have special dietary needs, can this be accommodated? Of course! Just let us know your needs and our amazing chefs will take care of the rest!
What about snacks and beer or wine? All meals (with the exception of one dinner in town) are included in your retreat. There is a small grocery store within walking distance of the retreat where you can pick up any personal items you may like to have. Alcohol is not included in your price, but is available for purchase.
I'm going on the Gratitude and Giving retreat, what supplies should I bring for the students? Creativity fosters learning and we are working with the school to bring creative supplies to the elementary students including markers, crayons, water colors and brushes. We will work together with the guests before departure to help ensure we have requested materials.
Do I need to bring extra money? Yes. You will need to bring $30 for your departure tax at the airport ( some airlines now include this in your ticket). You may want to bring money for extra snacks, beer or wine, and souvenirs. If you choose to schedule a massage (details in welcome packet) you will need to bring money and gratuity separately. You will have the chance to use the ATM at the airport before we depart for the retreat, or you can bring money with you from home. If you need to change money you will be able to do that at the airport.
Is it safe to travel to Costa Rica? Yes. Costa Rica has long been one of the most stable countries in Latin America. Over two million tourists a year visit the country, and for the last three decades its been a haven for surfers, backpackers and ex-pats retiring and investing in foreign real estate.
